The Lift and Move

Today Jim Tedford and his two assistants slid two long steel beams in through the windows and cross beams from the front to the rear. They lifted the cabin with the steel beams under the microlam beams that were attached to the logs.

The steel was all supported on cribs with the beams on steel rollers. Then the building was rolled off the old foundation and onto the new one in a series of moves with the crib work being shifted metre by metre until by the end of the day they were lined up in the new location.

The building will be up in the air for the next week while we build up the area between the slab and the bottom of the logs so the building can be lowered onto it's new base.
